Loaned to Lyon for the current season, Emerson Palmieri has received the minutes he was looking for in France.
He’s impressed enough that the Ligue 1 side would ideally like to keep the Italy international permanently and sign him from Chelsea, but that was deemed somewhat complicated by L’Equipe when they looked into it despite them having a ‘first right to buy’.
What could play against them is the fact a big club in Italy are also after the defender, as TuttoMercatoWeb claim the Blues man is a ‘strong hypothesis’ for Juventus when it comes to the 2022-23 season.
The Italian website explain that ‘it’s unlikely’ that Lyon will buy Palmieri outright, because ‘the costs for a club like the French one are important’.
A definitive transfer would cost Lyon ‘around €15m’, which is deemed ‘very, very difficult’ right now, but that’s a ‘different speech for Juventus’, because his wages are ‘in line’ with their own rules.
A discussion ‘will be deepened’ soon, but the Serie A side ‘is there’, and Emerson, after leaving AS Roma for Chelsea four years ago, ‘could return to Italy in the summer’.
