A few days ago we covered claims from Spain that Aleix Vidal’s agents had travelled to England for talks over a transfer. It was claimed the player’s agents were set for talks with clubs in Liverpool and Manchester.

That of course only gave four options, and Everton were perhaps the likeliest club to be willing to listen. Sam Allardyce has already made his wish to sign a fullback clear, and with injury issues still hanging over Everton in the position, Vidal didn’t look a bad bet at all.

At the time it was still felt Vidal was likeliest to return to Sevilla, but Marca now say that route is looking increasing ‘impossible’.

As always, Sevilla want a deal which commits them to little other than a bargain transfer and Barcelona, rightly, feel their player is worth more.

Marca state Barcelona want €12m plus a further €3m in bonuses for the player, which sounds quite reasonable. If Everton meet that they can complete deal, and if Vidal’s agents really did travel to England then it would suggest an openness to a Premier League deal.

The Spanish newspaper claim Barcelona are now looking at ‘other proposals’, this one is there for Everton should they so wish.
