Everton, Manchester City, Liverpool or Manchester United? There’s a big hint from Spain today that Alexi Vidal’s agents are speaking to one of the clubs.

With Barcelona ready to part company with the fullback, It had been thought Aleix would return to previous club Sevilla, but Barca want a permanent deal and that’s slowed down a potential transfer.

Valencia are also interested and the player’s agents are looking elsewhere to make sure there’s other options. At the moment, according to Estadio Deportivo, Aleix’s agents are in England speaking with clubs ‘in Liverpool or Manchester’. That only gives the four options of Everton, Manchester City, Liverpool or Manchester United.

Aleix has had a difficult time at Barcelona since his move from Sevilla. So out of Luis Enrique’s plans, he was given time off during the season in November 2016 to get married and go on a brief honeymoon.

Enrique confirmed he was fine with the break, and Aleix will have only asked because he knew he wasn’t needed.

Against all the odds, Aleix found his way back to Barcelona’s team. He was playing well and looked a regular, but in February of last year the fullback suffered a bad ankle injury and that tore his resurgence to pieces.

This season the 28 year old has 13 appearances, mainly as a substitute, but is being allowed to leave for a reasonable deal.

A right back who can be used in different tactical systems, Aleix could be a shrewd signing at a reasonable price.

Manchester United seem fine with Antonio Valencia and adequate back-up, and Manchester City have Kyle Walker as their option, again with adequate back-up. Liverpool have Joe Gomez in the role, with Nathaniel Clyne still to return to the team.

Perhaps Everton are the best bet for Aleix’s agents to try, with Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman injury issues, and Sam Allardyce already making clear his wish for a new fullback.
