On Wednesday, we covered a claim from Gazzetta dello Sport that Atlético Madrid had made the first move to sign Kieran Trippier from Tottenham.
The La Liga side were said to have offered €25m + bonuses for the England international, and while Spurs’ answer hadn’t been revealed, it was a worry for Napoli, who are also keen on signing the 28-year-old this summer.
The Serie A club have reportedly already reached an agreement with Trippier on personal terms, but have yet to submit an official offer to Daniel Levy.
Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday provide an update on the Atlético Madrid situation, revealing the La Liga side have now handed the right-back a four-year contract worth €3m a year (around £50k/week).
Down Napoli’s end, the club are expected to sit down and talk about Trippier on Thursday morning, which we’re guessing will include the best way of approaching and then convincing Tottenham to sell their star defender.
