Brighton and Hove Albion star Pervis Estupiñán has said he is hoping new signing Valentin Barco can come into the club and help them with their targets in the coming months.
The defender has been speaking to ESPN Deportes about life at Brighton and his hopes for Ecuador at the Copa America later this year.
The full back will be a key player for his side after establishing himself as one of the rising stars of the Premier League with Brighton last season.
He’s flourished under Robert de Zerbi’s guidance and attacking style of play, adding another layer to his game following his development under Graham Potter.
Estupiñán is very much a modern full-back, comfortable in the opponent’s half of the pitch, and both creating and scoring chances.
That, though, is set to change in the near future, with the imminent arrival of Valentin Barco, a highly rated Argentinian full-back in the same position, set to add competition for places.
It seems Estupiñán isn’t concerned about that in the slightest and is, instead, hoping the youngster can arrive and help push Brighton closer to achieving their goals.
“We talked about him with Facundo (Buonanotte) because he is his friend,” he said.
“We have seen him in games, because they see Boca in many parts of the world. You know the type of player; he has the intelligence to play in many positions.
“We must welcome him, so that he can adapt quickly to the team and for him to come and help us. After we create a beautiful family and achieve goals together.
“Whoever plays will do it in the best way, if it’s my turn, he is a professional boy despite his age, and I will try to help as much as I can. If he plays, I will be supporting him.”
