Last week, an old Leeds United transfer target returned to the fore in Baghdad Bounedjah.

The Algerian striker, who currently plays for Al-Sadd in Qatar, has allegedly been a long-term target of Marcelo Bielsa, but the €15m asking price (his release clause) was proving a bit much for the Championship side.

There were also his high wages to deal with, but it was noted Leeds had been ‘supervising him for several months’.

That was all from Le Buteur, but Compétition in Algeria have now jumped in with their information, stating Bounedjah could actually go for less than his release clause.

They explain the Qatari side will now ‘not be an obstacle in the transfer’, with ‘talk of the price being as much as halved’.

Marseille and Lille in France are said to be interested, but it’s Leeds the website focus on, as they state Marcelo Bielsa is ‘following the situation’s evolution with interest’ and would ‘gladly welcome Bounedjah in his team to help for promotion to the Premier League’.

They end by stating that ‘it’s clear’ the striker ‘won’t stay in Qatar forever’.
