On December 3rd, WP Sportowe Fakty stated Brighton & Hove Albion are ‘very interested’ in Pogoń Szczecin’s Kacper Kozłowski.
Since then, reports have indicated several clubs, including Manchester City are in the picture to sign the 18-year-old.
However, the Seagulls are expected to win the transfer battle. That’s what Meczyki.pl are reporting and they add he will ‘most likely become a Brighton & Hove Albion footballer’.
Graham Potter’s side are ‘determined’ to secure the midfielder’s services and paying a fee of €10m is not a problem for them.
According to their sources, the Poland international will agree a deal to join Brighton and then be sent out on loan at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. The Belgian club are owned by Tony Bloom, who also owns the Premier League side.
Saint-Gilloise are leading the table with 37 points after 17 matches, four points ahead of second placed Anderlecht.
Meczyki.pl are of the belief a short spell for Kozłowski with the Jupiler Pro League leaders seems like the ‘perfect step before jumping into deep water’ in England. There’s even a possibility of the player’s loan being extended beyond this season.
Kozłowski immediately will not be eligible to obtain a work permit to play for Brighton, if he manages to complete a switch to The Amex next month. That could be sorted out next summer, should he manage to make more appearances for his country, either with U21s or the senior team, in March 2022.
The question of his eligibility is unlikely to cause concern to the English club since they plan to send the talented youngster on loan to Saint-Gilloise, if they agree a deal with Pogoń Szczecin for his transfer.
