After all the drama of Las Palmas breaking into church, running down the aisle, and shouting ‘Remember us Roque, it’s us you really love’, Mesa is on the verge of being announced a Sevilla player.

The midfielder’s former club Las Palmas had tried to hijack the deal, or at least cause as much trouble as possible for Sevilla, who they don’t like after a big transfer fall out last summer.

Las Palmas publicly declared they had first option to buy Mesa back from Swansea, but the player himself has chosen Sevilla and there’s not an awful lot the islanders can do about that.

The Swansea City player arrived in Seville on Sunday and Estadio Deportivo say the transfer can be announced ‘in the coming hours’.

Sevilla will be taking Mesa until the end of the season, with Estadio Deportivo saying there’s an option for them to sign the player, rather than a compulsory buying clause.

Diario de Sevilla say the Spanish club are just awaiting a single document from Swansea before making the transfer official.

They’ll surely be lucky if they get that tonight, so the official announcement will probably be tomorrow, although don’t be surprised if Sevilla officials talk about it anyway after their Sunday match against Getafe.
