Emiliano Martínez could leave Aston Villa in the summer window, according to AS in Argentina.

The 30-year-old has been the first-choice goalkeeper since he arrived at Villa Park in 2020. His fine form helped him debut for Argentina a year later and he was a key part of their World Cup winning squad last December.

Martínez’s displays for Aston Villa haven’t yet resulted in a convincing offer from another club. At the same time, he has also not informed Unai Emery’s side that he wants to leave them in this window.

It’s said there’s ‘suspense’ over the former Arsenal man’s future with the Premier League side. Sources close to the stopper are said to have informed AS that if he were to receive a ‘suitable offer’, which will allow him to improve his salary, he would study it.

Last January, Aston Villa extended Martínez’s deal until 2027, and there doesn’t appear a pressing need for another renewal.

Martínez kept 13 clean sheets and conceded 38 goals from 36 league games for Aston Villa last season.
