Having to rely solely on Jermaine Defoe for goals this season, Sunderland, regardless of whether they stay in the Premier League or not, will need to add a striker to their squad.
Obviously, depending of their status, their targets will vary greatly, but if they were to remain in the top flight, then RTBF reckon Anderlecht’s Lukasz Teodorczyk would be one of their summer goals.
The Poland international, who was on loan from Dynamo Kiev until very recently when the Belgian side triggered their option to make the deal permanent, has scored 28 goals in 41 appearances this season, and is exactly the kind of player that could considerably improve David Moyes’ side.
With a price tag of around €15m, he would also be rather affordable for a club known to have some financial issues despite their Premier League status.
However, Sunderland aren’t the only top flight club on the list, as Tony Pulis’ West Brom, as well as Liverpool and West Ham, are all said to be tracking the forward.
Having sold Saido Berahino to Stoke, the Baggies only have Salomon Rondon in their squad as an out and out forward, and with a similar build to the Venezuelan, Teodorczyk would be the ideal alternative for West Brom without having to change their philosophy.
Of course, having only just bought him for somewhere between €3-5m, Anderlecht might make life difficult for interested sides, but if the right offer came along, the temptation to make a considerable profit so quickly might be too much to resist.
