Diego Costa doesn’t strike one as the kind to accept no for an answer. The Chelsea striker is a snarling, growling, bundle of aggression on the football pitch, and that probably helped him come to prominence playing under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.
Pretty much since Costa left Atletico there have been claims he wants to go back, and whilst Chelsea fans at first brushed those off as nonsense, it’s become increasingly clear that’s where Costa feels most at home.
Atletico Madrid failing to have their transfer ban overturned seemed to have ruled out the chance of Costa leaving Chelsea for his former club this summer. However, Marca report on Thursday that Costa remains ‘very clear’, he still wants the move and is willing to take drastic steps.
He’s even prepared to make an ‘extra effort’ and not play again until the January transfer window, to push through his Chelsea transfer this summer.
Atletico are aware how keen Costa is, and Marca say he spoke to both Simeone and the club’s president before and after the ban was upheld.
Costa claimed on Wednesday that Chelsea have told him he’s not part of the club’s future plans, and therefore he’s looking for a new club. There’s clearly only one club Costa wants that to be.
