One thing is certain in the David Alaba saga: he won’t be joining Paris Saint-Germain or Chelsea.
That’s according to Sky Germany’s Max Bielefeld, who took to social media to announce the news, claiming the Austria international ‘has decided to decline the huge offer’ from the Ligue 1 champions.
On top of that, the 28-year-old will not be moving to Stamford Bridge, as the journalist added ‘he also said no to Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea, who tried to convince him recently’.
That will be a blow to the new German manager at the London club, who had clearly targeted Alaba to try and strengthen his defence for next season, but it all comes down to the player’s desire to play in Spain.
Bielefeld states his ‘priority’ remains a move to La Liga, with both Real Madrid or Barcelona destinations he would ideally like to go to.
Whether either make the offers he wants remains to be seen, but that’s what he’s holding out for and why he turned down a move to Chelsea.
