Rumours linking Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona have gathered pace after the Brazilian’s 117.5 km/hr strike against Argentina.
The Liverpool star has been in outstanding form this season, and has been scoring brilliant goals for fun.
That has obviously caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris-Saint Germain, not many others can afford him at the moment, especially if he keeps up his impressive form.
At this point it’s worth pointing out quotes attributed to Neymar on Friday, with the Barcelona player saying he’d like to play at club level, were fake and invented by a Twitter account… yet still made the press.
Coutinho is ideal for Barcelona, say Sport, as he is one of the very few players who could strengthen their existing attacking force of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.
Sport say Coutinho would be part of ‘Project 2018’, but don’t explain what that is, and then point out Liverpool have their own 2018 project, when the club hope they’ll be playing in the Champions League.
The Catalan newspaper concede that Coutinho is happy where he is, and say Jurgen Klopp ‘pampers him like a child’, and add that the fans adore him.
A transfer fee of €75m has been mention so far, but it could be a lot more than that should Coutinho continue his form throughout the season.
Sport will get bored soon enough, move on to something and someone else, and then return when they get bored of that.
