Het Nieuwsblad have reported Southampton are showing an interest in Inter Milan defender Zinho Vanheusden. The young Belgian has this week been linked with a move to Liverpool.

The Belgian newspaper reports Southampton have made an inquiry for Vanheusden, but Inter Milan are keen to keep the 18 year old at the San Siro. The central defender is seen as one for the future, and it’s unlikely Southampton would see him as a like for like replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutchman could leave the Saints this summer, but the Premier League side are likely to replace Van Dijk with a more experienced defender.

Yesterday we covered reports from Italy that Liverpool could test Inter Milan’s resolve by coming in for Vanheusden. The youngster is contracted to the Serie A side until June 2019, but with the interest from the two Premier League sides, Inter Milan will want to tie him down to a longer deal.

Vanheusden has played in preseason for Inter Milan, and looks to have a bright future ahead.
