The idea that Lautaro Martinez could sign for Tottenham makes a lot of sense due to various factors.
The first is that the Argentine has already worked with Antonio Conte during the Italian’s stint at Inter, where he excelled.
The second is that a new striker is likely needed at Tottenham regardless of whether or not Harry Kane is sold, as the Englishman needs a rest from time to time and could always do with extra competition for the role.
Finally, Inter need some money this summer to balance the books, and the Argentine is the easiest, at least in their eyes, to cash in on and replace.
That last bit is certainly what Corriere dello Sport are talking about on Wednesday when they look at what the future looks like for Martinez at the San Siro going forward.
They explain he is ‘the element that, potentially, would give the greatest benefits to the Nerazzurri coffers’, especially because there are Premier League clubs ‘on his trail’.
Tottenham are among those named, and it made clear that ‘it matters little’ that his agent recently came out to say his client is happy at Inter, as ‘there is also the idea of being able to find a suitable replacement without too much effort’.
Despite all this, it’s ‘still too early’ to say his destiny has been written, but what is almost certain is Inter ‘are already gearing up for another summer of suffering, without excluding any scenario’.
That means everything and anything can happen, including Lautaro Martinez being sold to the highest bidder, whom Tottenham reportedly offered €95m for last summer.
