Sources close to player dispute Aston Villa transfer claims, say information is wrong

As we covered earlier on Saturday, today’s edition of L’Equipe have claims about the future of Jordan Veretout.

L’Equipe often have claims about the future of Veretout, more often than not related to a French club wanting to sign the player, but worrying about matching the financial package Aston Villa will want.

This time it was different.

Real Betis, linked last summer, were brought back into the equation, and L’Equipe claimed there’d be meetings this weekend between the player’s entourage and Betis.

It didn’t take long for the claims to get to Spain, and Estadio Deportivo have taken an axe to them. The Seville sports newspaper report ‘sources close to the player’ have explained the information is wrong, and there hasn’t even been any contact.

Despite that, Estadio Deportivo can understand why the Aston Villa player would be interesting for Betis, appreciating his qualities. However, once again, it’s thought Betis wouldn’t want to pay what Aston Villa are likely to want.
