Former Chelsea striker Franco Di Santo has hailed his time at the club as an ‘incredible’ experience.
The Argentine forward originally joined Chelsea in a £4.05m deal from Audax Italiano in January 2008 and would remain at Stamford Bridge until 2010, when he joined Wigan.
His two years in London were largely unsuccessful, with him spending his first year at the club and then moving to Blackburn on loan in 2009 before a permanent exit.
Indeed, he would manage just 16 appearances for Chelsea, failing to score and registering just one assist in his time there.
That doesn’t mean he didn’t enjoy some big moments at the club, though, with him sitting on the bench for both semi-final clashes against Barcelona in 2009.
That’s an experience he hasn’t forgotten, as well as playing alongside Chelsea legends such as Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech.
“It was something incredible that I will never forget, a unique experience having shared a dressing room with world football figures,” he told the AS edition of Argentina.
“We reached the Champions final; I was on the bench when I was 17-18 years old, then the semi-finals that steal from us against Barcelona…
“It was the best Chelsea in a long time; it was very gratifying for me to learn from players with a lot of experience and simple time.”
