Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku may be very happy to be at AS Roma, following the late deal pulled out by the clubs this window.
That move, however, won’t make the Italian media forget about everything that happened between the player and Inter Milan, who found themselves very disappointed after finding out he’d been negotiating with other clubs.
TV Play, relayed by FC Inter News, today had quotes from former Roma and Inter Milan manager Walter Sabatini, who talked about Lukaku’s case.
The coach pointed out that the collapse in the negotiations with Chelsea was a heavy subject for the Nerazzurri, and it’s now up to José Mourinho to make the striker succeed at Roma.
“Lukaku’s is an unpleasant thing, managers must observe ethical principles like football players. There was a team that trusted him and made happy with Antonio Conte’s management and who then protected him when he played really badly, Inter have always had a commendable attitude towards him. His attempt to escape shocked me, it’s an ethical question.”
“In football every opinion has room, I don’t think Mourinho will be a problem but his management is very delicate. Then in the end he will bring the results home, but I don’t feel like contradicting Pietro Lo Monaco.”
Roma paid €5.8m to get Lukaku loaned from Chelsea until the end of the season, besides all the investment they’ll have to make on his wages.
The striker already made his debut for the Giallorossi by getting brought on in the final minutes of the match against AC Milan. It’s only after the international break that he’ll be given the chance to get starts.
