The agent of Sheffield Wednesday defender Joost van Aken has told the Dutch media his client will be staying with the Championship club following the appointment of Steve Bruce.
The 24 year old Dutchman has been linked with a return to his home country in this transfer window but it looks like he will be remaining with the Owls for the remainder of the season.
Speaking to Voetbal International, agent Johan Hansma said: “The new trainer wanted to view the situation in recent weeks and now he’s decided that he would like to keep Joost.”
There have been reports of interest in Van Aken this month, with claims FC Emmen, PEC Zwolle and NAC Breda have all wanted to take the central defender until the end of the season.
There has also been reported interest from Germany.
However, it seems the player is valued by Bruce, with the former Manchester United player set to take the reigns at Hillsborough from the beginning of February.
Van Aken is contracted to Sheffield Wednesday until June 2021.
