Manchester United’s poor run in the league continued as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw his men suffer a humiliating 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Since September’s international break, the Red Devils won only two of their six league matches. In the last four ties, they have picked up only one point, which came in their 1-1 draw against Everton.
United had to work hard in Champions League wins over Villarreal and Atalanta, while they were eliminated from the EFL Cup by West Ham.
Recent performances have raised questions over Solskjaer’s future in Manchester, and the manager is now under serious pressure after the loss against the Reds.
Manchester United are seventh in the table, eight points behind league leaders Chelsea. This could cost the Norwegian his job, according to La Repubblica.
It’s said ‘there is the shadow of Antonio Conte’ on Solskjaer. The Italian has been without a job since leaving Inter Milan back in May.
Over at Calciomercato, they also mention ‘the shadow of Conte’. He is ‘currently the most popular’ candidate, ahead of Zinedine Zidane, to replace the ex-Cardiff City coach. That’s because Solskjaer’s position with the English club is ‘more precarious than ever’.
Sport Mediaset has a short update, explaining that United are ‘seriously thinking’ about Conte.
They mention this after stating a section of the club’s supporters voiced their opinions on social media platforms, asking Solskjaer to be relieved of his duties.
