Liverpool scouts will reportedly be present at the Lisbon derby between Sporting and Benfica in the Portuguese league on Saturday.
It’s the local newspaper A Bola who reports it today, saying the Reds have already requested a place for club officials.
The reason for the trip would be one specific player, and that’s midfielder Bruno Fernandes. Liverpool would like to watch him in what should be the last big game of the season.
Even though it’s claimed Sporting have no intention of selling the player this summer, A Bola says the big clubs still think they can convince the Portuguese side with a good bid.
Fernandes has a €100m release clause which can activated until June, and after that, the Lions can demand what they want.
Liverpool’s interest in Bruno Fernandes was first reported by newspaper O Jogo last month. It was claimed the Reds have been in constant contact with the player’s entourage, with several meetings, besides scouting him for a while.
It was then claimed Jurgen Klopp was considering submitting a formal offer.
Now with another newspaper claiming this interest, maybe the Reds’ chase for the midfielder is the real deal.
