Prior to the World Cup, we were blessed with a handful of stories about Lazio’s interest in Liverpool’s Marko Grujic.
The midfielder, who travelled to Russia with the Serbia national team for the tournament, looked likely to join his teammate Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in Rome, only for the Serie A side to move onto other targets and sign Milan Badelj on a free.
A move to Italy isn’t completely off the table, however, as Corriere dello Sport claim Torino are also taking a look at his profile to bolster their midfield.
The 22-year-old has already said no to loans to Cardiff and Middlesbrough, and CSKA Moscow could be Walter Mazzarri’s biggest competition for the Liverpool midfielder.
Jürgen Klopp is unlikely to be able to give Grujic much game time following the acquisitions of Fabinho and Naby Keita from As Monaco and RB Leipzig respectively, and another temporary move (he spent last season with the Bluebirds in the Championship) is on the cards.
However, Corriere do state this wouldn’t be an easy transfer for the Torino to pull off, although they don’t say why.
Our guess is going to either be wages or convincing Grujic that Torino is the best option for him.
