When Riyad Mahrez to AS Roma rumours kicked off last week, the more sensible sections of the Italian press looked at the quoted price of €50m and said it was never going to happen.
Since then the rumour has only grown, with multiple claims from Italy of an offer between €20m and €25m. Of course, that’s nowhere near the figure Leicester City would expect for the Algerian international, so it was easy to brush off.
Now, France Football say there’s been an offer, this time of €30m. However, they claim that’s the first offer, and despite saying the transfer news is ‘Info FF’, so their own sources, France Football go on to talk about the Italian media.
This rumour is growing and, right now, that may not be for good reason. Roma will want a bargain, that’s Monchi’s purpose at the club, and Leicester City won’t want to provide one.
There’s likely to be many more claims from the French media, as there was last year when Mahrez was repeatedly linked with a move to Arsenal.
