Manchester City defender Rúben Dias’ public statements about Hugo Viana have been corrected in Portugal, with an insistence he’ll be staying at Sporting Club de Portugal until the end of this season.
O Jogo cover the situation and insist that ‘nothing has changed’ in regard to the incoming director of football despite comments from Dias.
He recently made comments stating that Viana was set to join Manchester City in February, months earlier than had been previously announced.
Viana is the man City have selected to replace Txiki Begiristain, who is stepping down from his role at the end of the season.
O Jogo insist that ‘nothing has changed’ with Viana, though, and the original statement from Sporting when his move was announced stands.
Contrary to what Dias has said, he will not move to England in February and will remain in Portugal until the end of the season. This is something the newspaper has had confirmed to them.
Their insistence is that Dias was either misinformed or mis-speaking when he announced Viana would be joining Manchester City in February.
Whichever is the case, the newspaper insists that he was wrong and Amorim will be remaining at Sporting until the end of the season.
