Besiktas president Fikret Orman has told the Turkish media he’ll accept offers for Cenk Tosun if the conditions are right for his club.
Tosun has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks after the Premier League club recently held talks with the player’s agent, and then with Besiktas.
Aspor have reported on comments made on Turkish TV station TrtSpor, when he was asked about the Tottenham target: “Cenk Tosun is like a diamond, a part of our family. If the conditions are right for Besiktas and the player, we will speak as of that day… There is no official offer to me at the moment.”
Earlier this month we covered reports from Turkey that Tottenham spoke to Besiktas, and Tosun was on the agenda. Tottenham also reportedly held talks in Germany a few weeks ago with Senol Tosun, the father and agent of the attacker.
It’s likely Tottenham would have to table an offer in excess of €20m as Tosun’s value has increased after his performances in the Champions League this season. Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are also reported to be interested in the Turkey international after their attempts to sign the attacker in the summer.
Tosun has been impressive this season, but he doesn’t immediately jump out as a player Mauricio Pochettino needs. Spurs are often strongly linked with players in the Turkish league, only for the footballer in question to then move somewhere else.
A standout case is Bruma, who was very strongly, and repeatedly, linked to Tottenham earlier this year, but ended up signing for RB Leipzig. Perhaps Spurs are dipping their toe into the Turkish market, but have not yet been fully convinced to go through with a move.
