It’s fair to say that after a flying start to the season, Tottenham have become something of media darlings in the last couple of months.

With an attacking style of play and an affable manager who keeps saying the right things, they’ve earned plenty of love even when things go wrong.

That continued this week as they somehow seemed to come out of a 4-1 defeat at home to Chelsea with little criticism. And that apparently spread to Spain too, where Mundo Deportivo lay on the love today.

They cover Tottenham in a piece titled ‘the value of a beautiful defeat’, which takes up their entire back page, explaining that there are ‘honourable ways of losing’ that have the essence of the best triumphs.

Monday’s defeat to Chelsea was one such loss, with Tottenham’s decision to continue pressing high, ‘against the tide’ when they only had nine men, set to be remembered as if it were a victory.

They believe it is a sign of a bright future and the ‘courage of faith’ the side and Postecoglou have, something that will make the Spurs fans proud.

While that high line was ‘madness’ it showed the ‘decided commitment’ to the football Postecoglou wants this side playing, with the team ‘focused on seeking triumphs through daring’.

It’s a game that will go down among the Premier League classics and the fact it came against their former manager, Mauricio Pochettino, makes it that little bit more special.

The difference between the two managers was seen when watching them on the sidelines, with Pochettino ‘desperately’ trying to calm his players next to Postecoglou, who ‘stood out’ with orders to support his team and ‘give it more energy’.

That difference did not go unnoticed by Mundo, who very much hint that they think the Tottenham manager is the better of the two.

They were very impressed by him and his side’s ‘rebellious attitude’ and even if Spurs fall short this year and struggle after their first defeat, they believe a ‘beautiful revolution’ is underway.

The test is now on with players out suspended and injuries appearing, but it seems they have the fans onside thanks to the ‘beautiful style of their defeat’ which has given them ‘an incalculable moral triumph’.
