Rangers and not rivals Celtic are keen on a deal for Salernitana defender Flavius Daniliuc despite reports regarding the Hoops.

That’s at least if Sky Austria are to be believed, with them insisting that it is Philippe Clement’s Rangers and not Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic who are in the mix for the 23-year-old.

Reports in Scotland yesterday linked Celtic with a move for the defender as they reshape their squad ahead of next season.

Those reports cited reports in Germany as insisting that Celtic were interested but Sky Austria cover those same reports and make no mention of the Hoops, but instead Rangers.

They say that according to their information, the Austrian international is ‘in the sights’ of Philippe Clement’s side this season, with journalist Florian Plettenberg reporting on the ‘Transfer Update – The Show’ that they are showing interest in taking him to Ibrox.

He stated that they are ‘showing interest in a commitment’ with Daniliuc, who is currently on loan at RB Salzburg from Salernitana.

The chances of him ending up at Rangers are dependent on what the Austrian side want, as they have an option to make the loan permanent this summer should they wish.

Either way, Sky Austria insist it is Rangers and not Celtic in the mix for the defender, whose future appears to be in the air this summer.
