The Austrian media would love Marko Arnautovic to sign for a club like Manchester United.

There’d be more stories to cover, everything would be hyped further, and one of the country’s best footballers would move to a huge club.

Jose Mourinho worked with the player when at Inter Milan and whilst the two may have had their issues, the feeling is a lot has changed so a move to Manchester United wouldn’t be ruled out.

The Mirror claimed at the weekend that Mourinho’s club are ‘preparing a bid in excess of £50million’.

That story is now everywhere in Austria, not least with major daily newspaper Kronen Zeitung, who are using it to talk up a potential €56m move.

As well as covering the English claims, and clearly showing some excitement, it’s stated that an Arnautovic move could be on because West Ham have been ‘behind his expectations’.

The striker ‘pursues higher goals’, and it was his own brother, also his agent, who started the latest rumours by talking up a potential exit.

It may simply be a play for a better contract, but it’s certainly something coming from the Arnautovic camp.

Whether Manchester United feel they need another attacker for Mourinho to juggle, despite having Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez who can all play as a striker, remains to be seen… regardless of any claims.
