José Mourinho’s interest in the Porto midfielder Hector Herrera is the subject of two stories in the Portuguese press today.
One of them is from A Bola, who claims that the manager is looking for a partner for Paul Pogba and Herrera would be the right man for the job.
Porto are reportedly taking his release clause as a reference to negotiate, which is of €40m. Napoli, Juventus and Roma are the other clubs who would be interested.
Record also has an article about the player this Monday. And although most of their text is about his current form, they mention Manchester United’s interest.
However, they credit these news to the Italian website Tutto Mercato Web, which may well be A Bola’s source as well.
Tutto Mercato Web’s story is actually only a short paragraph saying José Mourinho wants a midfielder and Hector Herrera would be that man.
Herrera has been flirting with a departure from Porto since the last transfer window. The player was heavily linked to Liverpool and Napoli, but none of the clubs ended up reaching a deal with the Portuguese side.
When Tutto Mercato Web has an exclusive story, they use to make it clear. But that’s not the case here, so we’re better waiting for something more convincing before believing this.
