Spanish radio is currently trying to get its teeth into the Harry Kane to Real Madrid story. The big problem for the story to get off the ground is that Florentino Perez doesn’t seem to be showing a great deal of interest.
It’s that situation which the reports need to change to try and bring the story from complete and utter fantasy based on assumption to something slightly more believable.
Perez asking Tottenham for a price and being told Kane would cost more than Neymar has been a popular line this week, and Onda Cero have gone with it, according to a write up on their claims in AS.
Gareth Bale going the other way is a growing favourite in the Tottenham story, but with the Welshman turning 29 years of age in the summer and being on huge wages, he doesn’t immediately fit with the Spurs plan. If Tottenham did sell Kane then it’s unlikely they’d want a big part of that fee to be made up by Bale.
A more interesting claim, even if it has been plucked from the Spanish skies, is Mauricio Pochettino interest in Borja Mayoral, simply because it has a veneer of credibility.
The Spanish claims state Tottenham have made two attempts for Mayoral already, independent of anything with Kane, and with outline talks over the Englishman, Mayoral is brought into the picture.
At 20 years of age, Mayoral is currently outwardly happy to be a bit part at Real Madrid, getting less chances than many expected after the departure of Alvaro Morata to Chelsea.
However, it’s far from certain he’d get more prominence at Tottenham, whether the Kane fantasy turns to reality or not.
