Joselu, the striker who doesn’t score much, isn’t doing too badly so far this season. With 2 goals in 7 Premier League appearances, the 27 year old is showing signs of having a reasonable season for Rafael Benitez’s men.

That leaves him content with his lot and rather than itching for yet another transfer, Joselu sounds like he’s unpacking the suitcase and finally contemplating a longer term stay with a club.

Explaining his situation to Spanish newspaper Marca, Joselu was asked why Rafael Benitez keeps taking him off during matches. Sure, the Spanish newspaper accept Joselu is having a reasonable start to his Newcastle career, but with the footballer wanting every minute he can get, losing the end of games isn’t ideal.

Against Southampton Benitez hooked Joselu after 68 minutes, and whilst previous substitutuions have been a little later, it’s still eating into the player’s game time.

Joselu made it clear he’s not too displeased: “It’s what the boss decides and they are decisions that I respect. Things are turning out reasonably well and there’s nothing to discuss.”

After six clubs in as many years, St James’ Park could really be home for the much travelled footballer, who told Marca: “Yes, I want to settle down and it seems like Newcastle can be the place. I am very happy and I train to gain that stability in the future.”

It’s all good, even if he’d like to finish matches.
