Gerard Deulofeu’s situation looks increasingly precarious at Everton. It’s clear Ronald Koeman isn’t counting on the Spaniard at the moment and therefore transfer rumours are inevitable.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport report on Wednesday that Deulofeu’s ‘desire to leave Everton increases every day’, owing to Koeman’s decision to leave him out of the side.
AC Milan are said to remain interested in the situation, so much so that ‘contacts with the entourage of the player, and the brokers of the negotiations are continuing almost every day.’
The problem for Milan is that they can’t do anything without the approval of Koeman and Everton, and it’s speculated the manager may be looking to bring someone in before giving the switch his approval. Of course, there shouldn’t even be contacts without Everton’s approval, but that transfer ship sailed a long time ago.
If and when Milan get the ‘green light’ from Everton, the Italian club will proceed with a loan move, although the details of that are still in the air. Milan would prefer a dry loan, but it’s assumed Everton would require some kind of purchase option.
Deulofeu’s agent Gines Carvajal is set to travel to Liverpool over the next few days to try and push things forward, with Tuttosport saying he’ll officially ask Everton to let the player leave.
Whilst much of the reporting may well be speculation, it’s hard to argue against the idea Deulofeu won’t be thrilled with his current status.
Former Liverpool player Suso, a few months older than 22 year old Deulofeu, succeeding recently at Milan may also be a factor in attracting the Everton player.
