Ever Banega left Sevilla and moved to Inter Milan in 2016. After spending one season with the Nerazzurri, the 29-year-old and his family wanted to return to Seville.
The player’s desire to rejoin the club plus his close relationship with Oscar Arias, the then director of football, helped him come back to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán last summer. But then Arias stepped down from his position and Joaquin Caparros was appointed as his successor.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Banega was unhappy after Arias was asked to leave the club. Because of his friendship and loyalty towards the former Sevilla director of football, the Argentine international wants to leave his current employers.
The report claims Banega has already informed his close friends that he wants to leave the La Liga outfit this summer. His contract at Sevilla runs down in 2020 and has a €20m release clause, which will rise to €25m in the last 10 days of the transfer window.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery is interested in signing Banega. He would need to find out if the “I’m leaving Sevilla” from the player was in the heat of the moment after Arias was dismissed or if he is serious about leaving the Spanish club.
If Banega is seriously considering leaving Sevilla, then it’s assumed Emery would make a move if encouraged and if the economic situation was right.
Marcelo Simonian was managing Banega and the South American has parted with his agent. The report doesn’t mention who is managing the player, but they mention the intermediaries could have already met the Arsenal. However, the midfielder’s family wants him to continue with Sevilla.
On Tuesday the same Spanish newspaper reported Banega’s entourage ‘know nothing about Arsenal’ but they haven’t mentioned that in the latest report.
