Antony has ‘officially asked’ Ajax to cooperate so that he can make a switch to Manchester United, according to De Telegraaf.

The Red Devils have made a ‘dream offer’ to the winger and their new official offer to the Eredivisie winners is set to arrive today. The latter would receive a fee of more than €90m.

The 23-year-old, who has not been training since last Friday, is anticipating this proposal from Manchester United. In recent days, his representatives have been house hunting in Manchester.

Ajax rejected the Premier League side’s first offer of €80m last week, thinking that the player will stay at the club beyond the summer window.

During the talks with Gerry Hamstra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, the Brazil international told them taking away his Premier League dream would be a hard blow for him. The two chiefs also failed to convince the wideman to return to training.

Antony snubbed RB Leipzig to join Ajax in 2020. Marc Overmars was the director then and he promised to let him leave for the Premier League in the near future.

Having agreed personal with Manchester United, the player has now asked both Hamstra and Hunterlaar to find an agreement with the Old Trafford club.

That a €90m bid, which could rise to €95m excluding bonuses, is imminent is strongly down to Erik ten Hag.

The Ajax supervisory board have to ask themselves whether the attacker will receive such a proposal in the future. In addition to this, blocking Antony’s move will jeopardise their reputation in South America as an ‘ideal European intermediate step’.

At the same time, Hamstra and Hunterlaar cannot ignore Alfred Schreuder’s wish to retain the player.

Antony is ‘putting pressure’ on Ajax because he ‘wants to go to Manchester United within 48 hours’ and several factors would point towards the Dutch champions sanctioning the star’s sale.
