The least hidden secret in Brazilian football lately has been that Gustavo Scarpa will join Nottingham Forest in January. Several outlets have been claiming that the Palmeiras midfielder already signed a pre-contract with the Reds, and is just waiting for his deal with Palmeiras to expire so he can complete the move.

It turns out that this may not be the only free signing that the City Ground side will make from Brazil in the coming months. As reported by journalist Jorge Nicola, there’s interest in São Paulo midfielder Igor Gomes as well.

The reporter today features a video where he explains that the player could soon be leaving the Tricolor. His contract with the club expires at the end of March, and since he’s been making unrealistic requests for a new deal, he’s expected to be released.

Nottingham Forest are one of the clubs interested in the player, along with Porto and Sporting, who already spoke to his staff.

It turns out that none of those clubs made offers to sign him now. São Paulo would be interested in selling him to get a compensation, but there’s nothing on the table, as the European sides would rather get the player on a free move.

Nicola claims that just like Scarpa, Igor Gomes dreams of playing in European football, so maybe Nottingham Forest could convince him by offering similar arguments.
