On May 17th, we brought claims from France that Yohan Cabaye’s representative is this week set for renewal talks with Crystal Palace.
It all sounded rather positive for the Premier League club, and a nice change to rumours pushing the midfielder out of the club.
Well, that positivity continues in Monday’s edition of L’Equipe. In a section on possible summer transfers at Marseille, both in and out of the club, it’s stated Cabaye ‘should stay at Crystal Palace’.
There had been rumours Marseille were interested in the player, but there didn’t ever appear anything concrete, just a tentative possibility.
With Palace probably encouraged to offer a good renewal, as they panic about exit rumours, Cabaye and his representatives will be confident of being able to reach a good deal this week.
It’ll be a boost for Roy Hodgson but he’ll want the club to get everything sorted out, and signed, quickly to avoid playing into the hands of any interested clubs who are waiting to pounce.
