Portuguese newspaper Record today brings a short story about Norwich City’s interest in Sporting winger Rafael Camacho.
The outlet claims that the Championship side had ‘shown their desire’ to sign the 23-year-old this summer, but aren’t expected to succeed.
It’s said a move to Norwich City is ‘ruled out’ because the player’s intention is to join Famalicão.
A meeting between his entourage and the Portuguese club took place last week, and new talks are scheduled for the coming days.
That’s a short story with not many details about it. So it isn’t even said if it’s Norwich City or Famalicão who were keen on making the biggest offer for the move.
Camacho belongs to Sporting since 2019, when he joined from Liverpool on a €5m deal, but hasn’t been used by the Lions lately. He spent the past few years on loan, and played for Greek side Aris Saloniki last season.
That means the Lisbon side are keen on negotiating him on a permanent move this summer, especially because his contract expires next year. But it seems it’s the player himself who’s not keen on returning to England, where he also spent years at Manchester City’s youth ranks.
