On Monday, Sport Witness had a look at the Tottenham transfer rumours revolving around Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth, and a little digging showed that some in Argentina feel it’s a sure thing.
La Plata newspaper El Dia, who had spoken to the defender, were treating the move as agreed. El Dia explained Foyth is set to join Tottenham, and may have already played his last match for Estudiantes, if he doesn’t get to appear for the club in the Copa Sudamericana match this weekend.
It was El Dia who first broke the story, reporting that former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder Juan Sebastian Verón, now working at Estudiantes, would be travelling to Tottenham to put the finishing touches to a deal valued around €10m.
Now Italy’s Calciomercato have claimed an exclusive on the story, saying Veron will travel to London on Friday. On top of that, Calciomercato say there’s an agreement in principle between the player’s camp and Tottenham, which will only be finalised when the two clubs have agreed.
