On July 23rd, we carried a report from AS who explained Dani Ceballos was travelling to London to undergo a medical with Arsenal.
The same newspaper now claims Ceballos spent ‘all day’ (Tuesday) in the English capital.
He ‘passed a medical examination’ with the Europa League runners-up and only a signature is missing to make the transfer official. The Gunners will sign him on a season-long loan deal without an option to buy.
After Zinedine Zidane made it clear that Ceballos was not included in his core Real Madrid plans for next season, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur emerged as the two candidates to acquire the midfielder’s services.
Though earlier reports suggested Spurs were set to sign the 22-year-old, it’s the Gunners who have managed to beat their north London rivals in the race.
AS once again explain Unai Emery played a vital role in helping his side overcome the competition from Tottenham.
At Arsenal, it’s believed the youngster will be able to fulfil his desire of playing 40 games next season. A loan spell will also provide Ceballos with an opportunity to make Spain’s Euro 2020 squad.
An announcement is on the way.
