Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen has been sidelined with an injury since the end of January and his setback saw the Red Devils sign Marcel Sabitzer on a dry loan deal from Bayern Munich .

The Austria international is open to extending his stay at Old Trafford beyond this season.

According to Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, the 29-year-old ‘can imagine joining’ Manchester United on a permanent deal in the summer.

The midfielder feels comfortable under Erik ten Hag’s orders, but it’s still not decided where he’ll play next season.

Plettenberg states there will be ‘decisive talks’ in the next few weeks to discuss Sabitzer’s future. At the moment, the player is unlikely to return to the Bundesliga side. This would indicate he’s set to be involved in a deal in the summer.

In the event Manchester United decide not to extend Sabitzer’s stay, he could continue in England. Plettenberg states ‘many clubs in the Premier League have inquired’ about the Austrian, but doesn’t provide any details of those teams.

Sabitzer has managed a goal and an assist from 11 matches in all competitions for Ten Hag’s side. He assisted Marcus Rashford’s winner in Manchester United’s latest victory against Brentford on Wednesday.
