Bayer Leverkusen chief Simon Rolfes has insisted defender Edmond Tapsoba is not for sale as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.
Tapsoba has been named as a potential target for the Red Devils this summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to add a centre back to his team.
The 22-year-old is seen as a potential option after impressing in the Bundesliga this season, with a recent report in England claiming United were scouting him after being tipped off about his displays.
Leverkusen are naturally not keen on losing one of their star men, though, and it’s been made clear from Germany that it would take a massive sum to get the defender.
Rolfes has now hinted the same, telling BILD: “I am not surprised that Eddy’s quality arouses interest. But the player is not for sale” before adding that it would take an “immoral” offer, similar to what they got for Kai Havertz, for them to consider a sale.
Havertz joined Chelsea last summer and, if the bonus payments are met, that deal could end up going as high as €100m.
That is a price they’d seemingly want for Tapsoba, although BILD say it is ‘questionable’ whether any of his suitors would be willing to pay such a price for a defender ‘in Corona times’.
In terms of suitors, they state that the defender is ‘on the list’ for Barcelona, Manchester United and Juventus at present after impressing in Germany.
Those clubs, though, have now had it made clear that only a ridiculous sum can get Tapsoba out of the club this summer, with Leverkusen very much planning to having him in their team moving forwards.
