It’s been a while since we covered an article surrounding the future of Olivier Giroud, with the Euros one of the reasons why that is the case.

The other is that Milan, who are very interested in signing the Chelsea striker, can’t do a lot, since they refuse to pay money for a player they believe they can get on a free.

After all, the only reason the Blues triggered the unilateral extension in the Frenchman’s contract was to stop Premier League teams coming forward with offers, but there is a belief a free move abroad would be granted by the club owner and Marina Granovskaia.

As things stand, no contract has been rescinded, and Corriere dello Sport explain it’s up to Giroud’s agents and the forward himself to ‘force Roman Abramovich’s hand’ to get the move he wants.

That’s based on a promise the Russian oligarch reportedly made his player a few weeks back, and with a contract agreement already in place with Milan, it shouldn’t be too hard to get over the line.

Still, the ‘final step’ needs to be taken, and the Serie A side hope to hear some ‘good news this week’.

That’s hopeful, to say the least.
