Back in the summer, we saw the Portuguese media sounding very confident, and sometimes even hopeful, that Wolverhampton Wanderers would sign Vitinha from Porto on a permanent deal.
Following the midfielder’s one-year loan spell at Molineux, the Wolves only needed €20m to trigger their buying clause over him, but ended up choosing not to.
Now it turns out that Vitinha could soon be heading back to English football, according to today’s report from newspaper Correio da Manhã.
The outlet says the midfielder’s season has been ‘arousing interest’ in England, with ‘new approaches’ from Premier League sides arriving for him.
The former Wolverhampton loanee is protected by a release clause worth €40m, although Porto have already opened talks to give him a new contract and increase those figures.
Correio da Manhã points out the midfielder is now one of the players who could leave the Dragons before the end of the month, as he’s been one of those who have been standing out at the club, a stark turnaround from his eight starts at Wolves.
This isn’t the first time a return to England is mentioned, especially because Premier League side often have scouts watching Porto matches.
