AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw finds himself ‘at a crossroads’ as Newcastle United seemingly step up their efforts to get him.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover the German today and how he has a choice to make now Newcastle are pushing to get him.
The Magpies have been consistently linked with a move for Thiaw over the last few weeks, with Eddied Howe determined to add another defender to his ranks despite signing Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer from Bournemouth.
Thiaw is one of the options being considered and a report earlier today stated that Newcastle were making a final assault to try and get a deal done and sharing confidence that the transfer was happening.
His first option is to stick with Milan, look for a ‘leap in quality’ to ensure he is a first-team regular there or alternatively he can turn and ‘give in to the lure’ of the Premier League.
They say that in these situations it is often the will of the player that makes the difference, indicating that they believe if Thiaw decides to move, then Newcastle have every chance of getting their man despite Milan not being that keen on a sale.
This would be aided by the fact his entourage have been working on a possible transfer to the Premier League for months, with Newcastle first showing an interest in January.
That is yet to translate into a formal offer, but Milan are expecting it to happen, even waiting for it, and their stance could end up being dictated by Thiaw, who has a decision to make about his future.
