Manchester City or Manchester United could have an easy job if they want to sign the Valencia right-back João Cancelo next summer.
Both Premier League clubs have been linked to the player in the past few months, as his future at the La Liga side is still uncertain.
Now Deporte Valenciano claims that the Valencia owner Peter Lim wants the player gone in the summer, as he needs the money so the club can fit in with financial fair play rules.
Lim reportedly wants Cancelo to be sold for €30m, and that’s the task agent Jorge Mendes will have from now on.
The club said to have the strongest interest over Cancelo was Barcelona, but Deporte Valenciano claims that with Luis Enrique’s departure, their will may not be the same.
That’s why Jorge Mendes will have to use his contacts to find the player another destination. The task is simple: convincing a club that Cancelo is worth the €30m.
Manchester United had good connections with Mendes even before Jose Mourinho took over at the club, but with Antonio Valencia performing well at right back, the manager may feel Cancelo isn’t a big enough improvement.
Pep Guardiola is expected to refresh his fullback options in the summer at Manchester City, and Cancelo could be an option.
