On Monday, we relayed news from Italy that Fiorentina may hand Manchester United an ultimatum to make an offer for Sofyan Amrabat in the next few days.
Claims elsewhere mentioned Atlético Madrid’s interest, and Sport have relayed that and then given their own take on this case.
It’s claimed the La Liga side are an ‘unexpected player’ but Manchester United still ‘lead the race’ for the 27-year-old.
Liverpool have also been credited with an interest but Wataru Endō’s arrival at Anfield leaves the Red Devils in a ‘very good position’ to sign Amrabat.
It’s said the Morocco international is an ‘express request’ of Erik ten Hag. The manager is of the belief he’s the missing piece to restructure the squad at Old Trafford.
Diego Simeone’s side have entered the scene for Amrabat. They could see Rodrigo De Paul move to Saudi Arabia after Al-Ahli reportedly tabled a €32m bid.
Sport say Atlético haven’t yet received this offer. They state that even if De Paul stays, it’s not ruled out for them to try to sign Amrabat.
Both Manchester United and Atlético are aware the Moroccan is available for an ‘affordable price’ of €25-30m.
Meanwhile, Quotidiano.net explain that the Madrid club could sign Amrabat only if De Paul leaves. Despite Atlético’s interest, they add the Fiorentina midfielder is ‘always waiting for a call’ from Manchester United.
Over at Corriere Fiorentino, they say the Serie A side haven’t received concrete offers so far even if ‘all the clues continue in the direction of Manchester United’. This suggests the Italian club are expecting a proposal from Ten Hag’s side.
