On Friday afternoon, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero came up with an exclusive story claiming that Barcelona are in talks for the signing of Manchester City winger Ferran Torres.
It was said that the clubs are working on an agreement for a January transfer, as the player himself already asked Guardiola to authorise the move.
It didn’t take long for the story to be caught up by the rest of the Spanish media, and Mundo Deportivo brings an interesting update to it.
Their sources back up that Torres asked Guardiola to leave. He reportedly said he’s very thankful for the way he was treated and the chances he was given at Manchester City, but couldn’t say no to the chance of joining Barça.
Mundo Deportivo adds that Guardiola has ‘shown his understanding’, as it’d be normal for a player to wish to leave in case clubs like Barcelona or Real Madrid come in for him. So he said it’s fine for Torres to go, as long as the clubs reach an economic agreement.
Barça official Matey Alemany and Torres’ agent Hector Perris are said to have a ‘good relationship’ between them, and they now work with Manchester City to find a deal.
