Patrick Roberts has spent a week or so becoming a darling of the Spanish sport media.
The Manchester City owned player was sent to Girona on loan this season and for a while that looked a mistake because he simply wasn’t getting games. After a good spell at Celtic, hindsight suggested he perhaps should have stayed at the Scottish Premiership club.
But then he got a bit of luck. Portu got injured and that allowed Roberts into the Girona side and he impressed. Earlier this week, Marca described the 21 year old as a ‘marvel’ and saiud people should remember his name, because Atletico Madrid wouldn’t forget it after he gave their defenders all kinds of problems.
Then after 21 minutes, and an assist, against Alaves in the Copa de Rey on Thursday evening, he was forced to come off with an injury.
Whilst the full medical report isn’t yet know, El Desmarque say Roberts has injured his hamstring. The Spanish media, including Mundo Deportivo, believe it’s pretty certain the player will miss the rest of 2018.
Portu is now fit again, and Manchester City loan star will have another battle when he’s ready to play.
