The sporting director of Strum Graz has told the Austrian media he’s in talks with his midfielder James Jeggo to extend his contract, but conceded all options are open at the moment.
The 25 year old has this week been linked with a move to Leeds United, and with those links being repeated endlessly since, it’s become a story in Austria.
Speaking to Kleine Zeitung, Günter Kreissl was asked about the future of Jeggo after the midfielder was linked with the likes of Leeds United: “James told me he likes both the club and the city of Graz, all options are open, we are constantly talking.”
Jeggo’s contract with Strum Graz expires next summer, and the Austrian side need to act quickly if they want to tie the player down.
Leeds United would be able to speak to Jeggo about a pre-contract agreement in the new year, and possibly sign the central midfielder on a free transfer in the next summer window.
Judging from the Kreissl’s comments, Jeggo may leave the club next summer, and if he decides his future is elsewhere Leeds United could look to take advantage of the situation before then.
