On Monday, various claims from Italy and England reported the possibility of Antonio Conte replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
The Norwegian’s position at Old Trafford is under threat following the Red Devils’ failure to win any of their last four league games, which included a humiliating 5-0 loss at the hands of Liverpool.
Earlier on Tuesday, we relayed multiple claims made in the Italian press that United have made contact with the former Inter Milan manager.
It was also explained the 52-year-old is willing to take the Old Trafford job, if the English club decide to part ways with Solskjaer. Manchester United, so far, have not taken that step.
Newcastle United have also showed interest in Conte, but he has rejected the possibility to join the Magpies. That, however, isn’t the case with the Manchester club, according to journalist Fabio Santini.
“The coach has refused Newcastle, but is negotiating with Manchester United,” Santini told 7 Gold’s Il Processo, relayed by Area Napoli.
The journalist further adds Conte, who managed Chelsea between 2016 and 2018, could return to the Premier League.
“The coach could return to England, to the Premier League. There is in fact an ongoing negotiation with Manchester United,” Area Napoli quoted Santini as saying.
The details of the negotiation between United and Conte should come to light later on Tuesday or in the coming days.
